I have The Cold. The one everyone has. The one that sort of tickles your throat at 2am and makes you sit up coughing, hacking, wheezing, choking, and making noises as if your ribs are trying to expel a whole lung. Or two. Apparently it's viral and can take you down for 4-6 weeks. *excellent*
I've got the job at Exeter. Yay.
Now life is about to explode in confusion all over again. I have to go back to SA, have to submit my thesis, have to get a work visa (after my future employers have applied for and obtained a work permit).
It's going to be expensive. So I'll be on here, cranky and moaning and stuff very soon.
But, wait, let's not do that now.
Two resolutions:
1) get the thesis sorted out by the end of next week
2) stop thinking about The Man (also stop talking about him, or to him, or having any contact with him, or stalking him on Facebook)
There are more, but I don't have the time to type them out now. Suffice to say, the older you get, the more you know what you want, the less you let things upset you (and the less you screw around making mistakes).
Have a happy, successful, and peaceful 2008 everyone!

I'm feeling better today. Spent the afternoon curled up watching Love Actually and bawling my eyes out. I cry almost continuously from start to finish - but in a good way. The arrivals hall at Heathrow always tears me up, but not as much as the departure gate. When I leave this time (23 Aug to go back to South Africa), I'm not even going to try to hide it, I'm just going to embrace the sobbing and freak out the people sitting next to me in the plane. Oh, and I'll drink quite a bit I imagine.
I love England. It's a good place to be.
But I'll be back. I'm determined!!! (Am making plans for Christmas, with The Man, at his family's in Somerset - they have a folk band that play the local Christmas Ceilidh - seriously, who needs sweaty, dusty Pretoria when you can have Christmas lights, mulled wine, and mad dancing???)
Also, I slept for almost 10 hours last night and feel much better for it. Might even try the Endurance Spinning class this afternoon - I do so love them.
Right, work time!!!

The Tao of Steve was a movie I rather enjoyed, made during the 90's. However, there's a completely different Tao at work in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It is also Steve-related in the way that most men seem to be called Steve. There are three Steve's at my gym and one Steve at work. And if it's not Steve, it's Chris. Throw a pebble randomly down Northumberland Street, and you're sure to hit a Steve or a Chris. If you know a few of them and have their numbers on your mobile, it becomes a point of precision to make a call to the one you actually want.
And other musings on dear old England:
